A quick review of Nina Nesbitt at the Bothy, Belladrum on the 3rd of August, 2013.

Nina Nesbitt was a surprise guest at the Tomatin Whisky Bothy and treated a lucky few punters to a couple of songs, including single ‘Stay Out’. In person she’s very softly spoken and her singing voice doesn’t have the power of some other singers, instead it’s a softer more delicate affair.

As such we were asked by the promoters to try and keep the noise down. Impressively everyone held their wheesht and gave her a chance to perform. It was only two songs but because the bothy was still relatively quiet at that time it felt like we were granted a private performance just for us before she went on to play to the masses later on in the Hothouse Stage.

I've always loved music and spent my late teens and early twenties playing guitar in various bands on Lewis and Aberdeen. Other than playing in some truly terrifying pubs in Aberdeen not much came of it and life became focused on family and having a 'proper' job. Inverness Gigs is an outlet for me to quell my inner frustrated musician and the caliber of local acts has even inspired me to take my own music more seriously again. Who knows, one day I might venture back on stage under the fierce scrutiny of an Inverness Gigs reviewer! You can contact Toby direct at Toby@Igi.gs
