Free Range Folk Stage announced for Belladrum 2022

DopeSickFly, The Trad Project and Gordon James and the Power head up the line-up for the stage that is arranged in partnership with Glachbeg Croft Folk Club.

Following the announcement of Edwyn Collins, Ash and Sam Ryder and loads more earlier in the month, it is greater to see the line-ups for other stages being introduced.

The ‘folk’ stage the line-up has always thrown up different interpretations of the genre, and this certainly is the case this year. Whether it’s a bit of blues with stalwarts of Belladrum Dougie Burns & The Cadillacs ,a bit of feel good funk and hip-hop with DopeSickFly, the emotional rawness of Just Boy (read a recent interview with Dale here) or the engaging upbeat charms of Sarah Gallagher.

A trio of more traditionally rockier acts also find their way on to the bill with Elgin’s own Danny Mortimer, Toby Michaels (front-man for GTF) and Gordon James & The Power.

Delighted to finally let this one out, I’m surprised I havnt let it slip until now!! Massive thank you to Glachbeg Croft Folk Club for including me in this years Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival lineup!! I will performing an acoustic set on the “Free Range Folk Stage” on the Saturday afternoon!!! Be sure to come down and say hi!!

Gordon James & The Power

Each of the days are opened by a duo of Music + acts an opportunity to see some stars of the future. The closing acts for both nights promises a bit of a hoolie, with The Trad Project on Saturday night Cala. As with Belladrum in general, however, the Free Range Folk stage is about music discovery and the stage is perfect for finding your next favourite act…

“ Its exciting to be returning to the Free Range Folk Stage after such an unexpected break. Many of the performers were expecting to play two years ago- but in the spirit of supporting local acoustic acts, I am delighted to see how their performance has developed during their down time; there are sure to be some treats to come”
