The full announcement for the official Hogmanay celebration in Inverness has been made.
Following on from the Skerryvore announcement, the other two acts on the bill have been announced for the Northern Meeting Park Red Hot Highland Fling.
Opening the party will be Hò-rò whose fresh perspective on Scottish Trad music has won the you band so many fans throughout the area.. When we talked to Calum MacPhail prior to their Ironworks headlined gig in 2016, he identified that despite their desire to innovate there are similar themes that tie the band together;
“…overall I think we take a lot from our roots. Lucy loves researching traditional songs from where she grew up.Their are some really lovely Gaelic songs that have come from Ballachulish and the surrounding area. With our tunes Calum and Crisdean write a lot of their own tunes. And the vibe is always very upbeat and you can always have a good footstomp to them.”
Also announced are Skipinnish ,the award winning act have been selling out venues including the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. They aim to “perform a unique and sublime mix of highland tradition and contemporary music” and whilst last year saw a number or personnel changes, this has not slowed down their momentum. Evidence of the can be seen by the response to their latest album ‘The Seventh Wave’ with one reviewer noting; “The Seventh Wave comes about as close as any studio album could to replicating the ecstatic audience feeling Skipinnish manage to create”.
Red Hot Highland Fling will be held at the Northern Meeting Park, Inverness on the 31st of December.
