Spring Break and Painting Rockets head up new  line-up for the second year of the celebration of art and music of the area.

2019 saw the first full debut of the Outsider Art Fest, headlined by Twin Heart the festival showcased art and music in an ambitious event (see our review of the gig here). The 2020 line-up sees a change of direction with Spring Break self described as ‘Fanciful buffoonery doused in satirical psychedelics’ headlining proceedings.

Edinburgh based Painting Rockets, featuring singer, Keli Thomson, and guitarist, Stephen Christie are drawing attention for their evolving sound that has seen them recently support Cold Years at King Tuts and previously supporting VUKOVI, Dream State and Mayday Parade.

Pandacar the three-piece alt-rock/post-punk band are articulately described as “fuzz-soaked bass lines, jagged guitar, driving drums, and a punk pathetique attitude”. They will be joined bu Polar Bears in Purgatory who dropped EP “Free Amateur Surgery” late in December 2019.

Joining Spring Break in representing the local scene are Lilura, who Mockitmusic described as ““In our opinion one of the brightest artists in Scotland”. Chancers, the five piece expressed an eagerness to get some more material recorded whilst giggling as much as possible in a recent interview with us.

Death or Glory was released by the Alkanes at the back end of 2019 to much recognition, more is promised for 2020 for the duo whose “grubby alt-rock noise that’ll appeal to anyone who likes their music raw and unfiltered”.

Relatively new to the scene, Distance Between Us bring their Alternative Rock to the event. Having ended 2019 playing the Ironworks, 2020 brings the promise of an EP on the horizon.

Stephen Baikie (organiser) said;

“Outsider Art Fest 2020 is here and well it wouldn’t be one without venue issues but here we are bigger and better than ever in our new home, The Tooth and Claw. Playing host to some of the best bands local and from throughout Scotland and artists over two floors on a bank holiday weekend, what more do you need (well maybe a couple of pints to beat off the heat).”

Outsider Art Fest 2020 will be held on the 20th of September (note the change of date).
