The shortlist for the main stage opening slot at Jocktoberfest 2018 have been revealed.

Jocktoberfest already boasts an exciting line-up of local and national acts ranging from the Scottish Trad of Tweed to the “electronic witch pop” of LILURA. Inverness Gigs were charged with shortlisting for the opening slot of the festival on Saturday the 8th of September. Following a great deal of agonising we have shortlisted the following two acts;

Gordon James and The Power

Formed in Speyside, the band have been building quite a following for their acoustic rock that has more than a splattering of 80’s retro. They have had a busy summer withe performances including Belladrum, Party at The Palace, and even a headline slot at the Ironworks.

Colin Cannon

Colin Cannon previously was shortlisted for a Belladrum 2018 slot.

Alternative acoustic story-teller Colin follows the ethos that you should “tell the truth and the words will fall right out your mouth”. He quotes influences such as Nathaniel Rateliff and Paolo Nutini (see our recent interview with him here). He has been honing his skills on smaller stages locally including various open mics, earning praise for his approach along the way.

To vote for your favourite act go to the Inverness Gigs Facebook page. ACT QUICK though you can vote for on our Facebook page  till Sunday  26th of August.

Jocktoberfest 2018 is held between Fri 7th Sep at 6:00pm – Sun 9th Sep at 1:00pm at the Black Isle Brewery, Munlochy.

Tickets are still available for Jocktoberfest, but supply is getting very limited indeed.

We will be around the festival this year so keep an eye on our Facebook page and Instagram accounts.
