Newton is fresh off recording 4th album ‘Studio Zooir?t=wwwinvernessg 21&l=as2&o=2&a=B00D9HAR5O - Newton to headline Loopallu 2013’ which he talked about when we caught up with him at Rockness, this year, where his performance at the Golden Voice tent drew a near capacity crowd.  Newton has an impressive back catalogue which includes‘I Need Something’ and ‘Dream Catch Me’, that is matched by a sincere and engaging personality.  A perfect fit for Loopallu.

Also on the bill are the London based The Temperance Movement, who sold out Mad Hatters when they played the venue in June, an impressive gig, by all accounts too. The band, whose star is very much on the rise having recently supported Rival Sons, found themselves on the billing of the Bruce Springsteen headlined Hard Rock Calling.

Blending together American and Celtic soul, Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire join the line-up in the build up to the release of their albumir?t=wwwinvernessg 21&l=as2&o=2&a=B00E668TKM - Newton to headline Loopallu 2013due out on the 2nd of September. The album promises to be of “epic proportions: dark, brooding and atmospheric, but shot through with moments of beauty and hope”, with early reviews promising much.

goNORTH continue their support of the festival showcasing the retro-electronica and (well earned) hype laden PRIDES, indie-pop Blood Relatives (formerly know as Kitty the Lion) and the captivating, heartfelt, Scottish rock of Fake Major.

Also on this announcement are The Ruen Brothers, Laurence Fox, The Vatersay Boys and The New Picadillys who join the earlier announcement that includes The Beat, Roddy Woomble and The Moulettes.

Tickets are available in person from Northwest Outdoors (Ullapool), Ironworks (Inverness) and online from www.skiddle.com.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
