We catch up with Damaged Goodz and Butterscotch ahead of his collaboration with Butterscotch for their performance at Belladrum 2022.

If you are reading this and still have not get tickets use this Belladrum 2022 ticket link to make sure you do not miss out.

You have ten words to describe your act, no more no less…

Damaged Goodz – Sporty / Posh / Baby / Scary / Ginger / Paul / John / Ringo / George / Slipknot.

Butter; visceral, enigmatic, seasoned, phosphorescent, flavoursome, uncompromising, playful, traditional, eloquent and fun

As an act how how does it feel to be back post-COVID?

Damaged Goodz – I started back the second I could, I write most of my material with a live show in mind so if there isnt one its pointless, I couldn’t do the zoom gig thing, they all looked and sounded terrible.

Butter; Terrifying and exhilarating. When performing is standard practice and it gets taken away from you, returning to it is quite a re-birth. Mercifully minus the placenta.

Given the myths and legends theme of Belladrum 2022, can you tell us a myth or legend of you?

Damaged Goodz – Myself and BUTTERSCOTCH used to despise each other due to a Dingwall versus Fort William beef but we decided to show unity to avoid an all out war between the two towns

Butter; Before we rapped, we were stunt doubles for the two Ronnies.

Which legend (non-musical!) would you have appear on stage with you and what song would you play with them?

Damaged Goodz – Eric Cantona, and I would selfishly do my own song “CANTONA” to see if he can boogie to it.

Butter; I’d get Nikolas Tesla up to perform that’s entertainment while we were all collectively electrocuted.

There have been a few musical legends play Belladrum over the years which performance would you most like the opportunity to see again?

Damaged Goodz – Sister Sledge was pretty epic but watching the HOT TUB TIME MACHINE was one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

Butter; Candi Staton was tremendous and I’d also say Sister Sledge. Gladly this year Chic are playing, so I’ll take that.

How are you preparing for your Belladrum performance, what are your plans after you have played?

Damaged Goodz – Trying to give the best show possible and represent our culture (HIP HOP) with me and BUTTERS going back and forth like nobodies business whilst DJ ZEENY delivers a masterclass on the wheels of steel. After we will try and sell the CDs so we can buy beer and hot dogs.

Butter; Relentlessly drumming in the deceptively technical collection of words and trying not to hate the music from over listening.

If your set only consisted of three songs and one extra cover, which ones would they be and why?

Damaged Goodz –  “That’s Entertainment” / “Headz Inna Burach” / “Brothers From Another Planet” / “Birdhouse In Your Soul” by THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS.The 1st 3 are staples of the live set and the cover is a real booty shaker for the ages.

Butter; That’s entertainment, Rinse and repeat and F.M.L with Beck’s where it’s at as the cover.

And a wee bit of festival madness…

Who’d win a fight between Nessie and Godzilla?

Damaged Goodz – Nessie all day cos she’s Scottish.

Butter; Nessie because reasons.

You’re out for a few drinks, what other artist that you know, would turn it in to a legendary night?

Damaged Goodz – Nobody wants to drink with me cos i start spitting on people’s lips when I’ve had a few shandys.

Butter; Oliver Reed and Gandhi for a balanced diet.

Is Nessie real?

Damaged Goodz – 100% yes, one of my best mates seen it wrestle a stag off a mountain when he was working, and he doesnt lie.

Butter; Yes, I saw it with my own eyes in 1987.

What would you rather fight, a unicorn the size of Nessie or 20 unicorn sized Nessies?

Damaged Goodz – I’d rather chat them up

Butter; I’d negotiate safe passage to Fort Augustus then nuke the site.

What is your favourite urban legend?

Damaged Goodz – That I am an urban legend.

Butter; The oft overlooked legend of small foot.

If you had to form a 4 piece band from legendary creatures what instrument would each play and why? Also what would you call the Mythical band?

Damaged Goodz – I would have to be lead singer cos im a hopeless narcissist,id have an Octopus on the Drums cos thats common sense and they have 8 brains in their hands,Id have THE MASTER from SALEM’S LOT on the Bass cos he has big fingernails ideal for plucking strings,id have ORCA THE KILLER WHALE on the Trombone cos he would make a godly racket. The band would be called CIRCUMCISION & THE 4 SKINZ
