The Clampdown are to release new track “Funkadelic” in May, 2022.

The Ross-shire band formed in 2019 have a  high-energy, melodic and hard hitting sound that draw elements of funk, rock, punk & indie. Debut single “Can’t Take This”was released in February and showcased the heavier, punk inspired  roots of the band. The band describe their ambition for follow up, “Funkadelic”, as “With the Funky drum & bass groove & melodic chorus we hope it’ll be  a dance floor filler everywhere this Summer”.

The tune does not disappoint managing to showcase the trio’s talents and create an addictive , certainly funky, sound that you can imagine festival audiences singing along to.

The Clampdown are founding members frontman Ruairidh MacKenzie and drummer Sam Cowan joined by bassist Tom Cameron. March saw the band play a live set for Radio nan Gàidheal.

Their support slot for Forgetting the Future earned praise from our reviewer; “They had it all – a set filled with a range of music (from rock to Funkadelic), perfectionism (and when a riff wasn’t perfect, it was performed again) and humorous chat”.
