Baby Taylah releases powerful new track ‘Home’
Single is available via normal digital platforms now
Scotland’s Baby Taylah took to Glencoe to film a new music video for her latest single ‘Home’.
Following the release of her empowering pop track ‘Reclaim’, Scottish singer-songwriter Baby Taylah shows off her impressive artistry in gripping sophomore single ‘Home’. In a contrast of delicate violin strings; wrapped with deep drumming beats, ‘Home’ explores the craving one feels when wanting to be around someone that is no longer present in their everyday life. Juggling a variety of musical styles and influences from the electropop and classical ballad scenes, her powerful angelic vocals compliment the tracks sophisticated, yet shimmering sound.
Taylah isn’t confined to the ‘genre box’. To best describe her style, think if Bishop Briggs and X Ambassadors could have a musical lovechild but with classic Celtic roots woven in between.
Talking about her new release, Baby Taylah said, “The song itself is written about the longing you feel to be around someone who is no longer in your daily life. Menial everyday tasks like simply travelling back home with that person is something you would pay a high price just to experience it for one last time.” She adds, “The video is really personal for me as we based the idea around the loss of my mum. We wanted to touch upon the feeling of sadness in the track by turning that into a longing for someone who isn’t coming back.
Placing it in a big open space like Glencoe really pushed the solitude and loneliness of grief, where you’re always looking for something you can’t quite find anywhere but within yourself.”
Discovering her passion for music at the age of 14, Baby Taylah is a multi-talented artist in her own right, from playing the guitar to the harp, Taylah can do just about anything. Having performed in and around the Glasgow music scene from 2009, She has since then performed at Scotland’s TRNSMT festival on their very first female-led ‘Queen Tut’s stage’.
Her debut single ‘Reclaim’ received BBC plays from Vic Galloway and Nicole Meighan, and was also championed by Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio. Taking her artistry to a new creative level, the Scottish artist spent 6 weeks training in martial arts to recreate a scene in Scotland’s history for the tracks accompanying visuals. Her hard work scored billboard advertisements in 8 subway stations across Glasgow, making her presence known. It seems that the admiration for Baby Taylah just keeps on giving, which will undoubtably grow in 2020.
