Single ‘Live For Tonight’ out now on Spotify

It started innocuously enough, the evening doom-scroll through social media and the usual ‘Stay at Home’ posts, news on collapsing businesses and the grim toll that COVID19 was exacting across the globe. Up pops a post on the local village facebook page where someone is complaining about a noisy neighbour playing their music too loud. This inevitably turns into a popcorn thread where the subject of said noise is…. actually defended by most parties. A posted link to his Spotify profile was enough of an incentive to have a quick nosey to see what the fuss was about. I was pleasantly surprised to find that said ‘noise’ was an uplifting House tune and exactly the sort of thing we need right now.

I got in touch and found that ILHAN is 17 years old and lives in Drumnadrochit. The DJ and Producer has been playing music since he was 12 when he got his first set of decks.

He tells me that ever since then he has had a huge passion for dance music. He started producing music in the summer of 2019, and aims to give all his listeners the same sense of emotion he receives when listening to his music. His aim is to be able to generate many different feelings in his tracks, making them enjoyable for any occasion.

He continues on to say that his main inspiration has always been Martin Garrix and he would love to reach his level in the dance music scene. His song “High on Life” featuring Bonn, inspired Ilhan to start producing music properly as it gives him a feeling no other song does.

What stands out for me here (and I make no claims to be any authority on dance music) is the quality of the production and the the passion that Ilhan has for his music. I’ve always been a sucker for a bit of uplifting Trance and House and used to go and see the likes of Danny Rampling, Carl Cox and Andrew Weatherall before life, career and sprog and a move back to the Highlands killed off my clubbing days. The young DJ has started off well and I’m looking forward to seeing what he comes up with in the future.

Live For Tonight is out NOW.

I've always loved music and spent my late teens and early twenties playing guitar in various bands on Lewis and Aberdeen. Other than playing in some truly terrifying pubs in Aberdeen not much came of it and life became focused on family and having a 'proper' job. Inverness Gigs is an outlet for me to quell my inner frustrated musician and the caliber of local acts has even inspired me to take my own music more seriously again. Who knows, one day I might venture back on stage under the fierce scrutiny of an Inverness Gigs reviewer! You can contact Toby direct at Toby@Igi.gs
