Colin Cannon – Who are you? # 26

We introduce you to Colin Cannon and ask him a few question ahead of his forthcoming gigs

Who are you ?

Colin Cannon, solo singer/song writer.

Made plenty of mistakes in life, but always made sure I learned from them. Writing about them creates a memory anchor for each lesson. Lived. Loved. Travelled. Now I’m singing about it.

What do you do ?

Couldn’t give you a specific genre, maybe Alternative Acoustic Story Telling? Haha

For fans of…. ?

Nathaniel Rateliff Paolo Nutini Shakey Graves Tallest Man on Earth

Where are you going ?

Aim for more gigs locally. Bigger venues, bigger audiences. Hopefully I can start making a connection with people. If any of the stories I’m singing about resonate with some of their experiences, good or bad, I’d be delighted.

Where can we catch you ?

I have a Facebook musicians page.

Upcoming gigs: ‘Under Canvas’ Eden Court outdoor bar and event Friday 27th of July. (17:30 sharp) ‘Madhatters’ 4th of August (time to be confirmed)

I also really like to attend open mics to Sharpen the tongue. Good atmosphere and good for practicing new songs.

Anything else?

My best pal used to do me a favour whenever I was about to go on stage, to help me focus. He would remind me: “Remember man, don’t sing the song….tell the story.” People often ask me how I came up with the songs or tell me that they could never do anything like that and my response is always the same; “Tell the truth and the words will fall right out your mouth.”
