Dorec-a-belle have launched video for ‘Stoopid’.
Dorec-a-belle recently showcased five new songs at their return to Eden Court, a gig our reviewer described as “A night of fabulous musicianship, great lyrics, beautiful harmonies, a fair bit of laughter and maybe even a few tears”.
One of the aforementioned tracks was ‘Stoopid’ , a first for the band as it has a male lead. “It felt like it should be sung by a man, so Robin stepped up and offered to sing it”, explain the band, also adding “we think he does a fantastic job!”. The song was based on the true story of an encounter with a hobo in Nashville, by our sax player, Bev, and her husband, it tells of how things aren’t always what they seem. The track was written by the whole band, who now count double bass player Robin Abbot, and drummer Derek Urquhart among their ranks, on a creative weekend in a remote bothy in the North West Highlands.
The video was filmed under the watchful eye of Stephen Bull It was recorded and filmed by Stephen Bull of Glachbeg Croft. Playing on the themes from the song, it creates an interesting playful tweak on the expectation.
Dorec-a-belle will be returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to play the Merchants’ Hall again this summer.
