Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards to play Inverness in May.

John Wenzel, of The Washington Post once note of Laura that “Ambition often follows talent, and Laura Cortese has an embarrassment of both. “.
Hailing from San Franciso, she studied violin at Berklee College of Music and has thrived in a number of genres including indie having appeared with Band of Horses, Pete Seegers and Rose Cousins.
However with Laura, with the Dance Cards, she aima to provide music that is ,according to her website, “bold and elegant, schooled in the lyrical rituals of folk music and backed by grooves that alternately inspire Cajun two-stepping and rock-n-roll hip swagger.”
This can be seen in their album ‘Into the Dark’ , released in 2013 which was simply described as “Remarkably impressive” by website Folkwords.
Their tour is partially funded by an interactive online bake sale, takes them on a thirteen date tour of the UK.
