Karine Polwart who describes drawing “the economy and universality of the folk storytelling tradition with a probing intellect and compassionate lyricism.” Having been described by The Guardian as “One of the finest singer song writers in Britain”, Karine will be both performing and hosting a strictly limited workshop on the themes from songwriting to stage fright.

Findlay Napier who Rave Child described as “one of the most odd and effortless, songwriters today; his off the cuff stories about how all of his songs were written are a fascinating insight into an artist who takes in inspiration constantly.”

March saw Findlay release his latest single ‘The Man Who Sold New York” as well as touring with Eddi Reader. Findlay will be hosting an event for Between the Lines described as ” a bit of a gig, a bit of a Q&A and a bit of a chat”.

Withered Hand & Malcolm Middleton will be performing a double-bill gig on the Saturday the 4th of July. Wither Hand aka Dan Wilson has nearly a decade of song writing experience using it intially as a way of reflecting on the birth of his first child and the death of a close friend. His second and most recent album ‘New Gods’ was released this year with Nicola Meighan noting “his resilient guitar-pop and iron-clad verse are deceptively forceful – he’ll knock you for six”.

He will be joined by Malcolm Middleton, an esthablished and respected singer songwriter in his own right, he is also known for being one half of the Scottish alternative rock band Arab Strap. Malcolm promises to be performing highlights from his previous albums as well as new songs from the forthcoming 2015 album.

There will also be an opportunity to get feed back for your songs from a small panel of judges at the open mic slot on Saturday the 4th of July from 4pm. One of the acts get the opportunity to open for the Malcolm Middleton / Withered Hand gig. Again spaces are limited but it is free entry (you do have to book)

The event is a collaboration between Eden Court and Steve Robertson, further information and ticket sales can be found on the Eden Court website.
