Inverness Gigs are pleased to announce a search for the best amateur live music photographer in the Highlands to coincide with the forthcoming photographic exhibition at Eden Court Theatre in February 2014.
The competition builds on the positive response to the mi inverness sponsored event at Eden Court to be staged early next year, which will allow opportunity for amateur photographers to gain further experience in the field of music photography. We are asking amateurs photographers to send us a couple of pictures that capture the Inverness music scene (click for full entry details,terms and conditions).
With many thanks to Belladrum, the winner will win a Seedlings stage photo pass to Belladrum 2014, which will give the winner the opportunity to capture all the action of the Seedlings Stage 2014 to build up their own portfolio and also a selection of which will be published in both Music News Scotland and Inverness Gigs. In addition to this, the winning images , as submitted for the competition, will be displayed at the forthcoming photography exhibition at Eden Court in February 2014.
The competition will be judged by Brian Vass, freelance photographer who has been published in The Guardian, The Observer, The Skinny and many more. He will be joined by Inverness based professional photographer Brian McIntosh. Completing the judging panel will be Alastair Cunningham who studied photography at Edinburgh’s Napier University and has previously worked as a newspaper photographer, he currently publishes MUSIC NEWS Scotland.
Alastair said , of the competition; “MUSIC NEWS Scotland is looking forward to supporting Inverness Gigs initiative to highlight and encourage the amateur music photographers in the Inverness area. Live music photography can be a very challenging sphere but one that brings much satisfaction. I’m sure this project will bring some great shots to the public’s attention, and hopefully give someone that extra edge to help them take the next step up into the professional world.”
