Soundclash & Let’s Go present … Monster FM Sounclash Showcase launch, Karma Lounge, Inverness, 31st August.

This weekend, the Monster FM Soundclash Showcase hit’s the airwave’s. With exclusive mixes from some great local DJ’s over Friday and Saturday night’s in September. Last Saturday, the Karma Lounge played host to the official launch party, which included some of the DJ’s and acts that are involved with the showcase.

Upon entering Karma, there was already a number of eager clubber’s taking in opening DJ Alottarhythm’s set. Consisting of some classy house tune’s, Alottarhythm had the head’s nodding from the off, and even had quite a few on the floor so early on. Playing tune’s from Kink & Carl Craig amongst other’s, his set was gaining momentum, as was the head count. Often interacting with the Karma visitor’s, Alottarhythm wanted everyone to be having a good time, and he delivered just that.

Next up were Alan Grant and Soundclash showcase producer, Ally Ridgers, who played a “back2back” set together. Alan kicked off the set by playing a few tune’s, then Ally would take over with a few track’s of his own, and so on. Alan played the Bodhi remix of Marky Mark’s early nineties hit “good vibrations”, and their set had exactly that. Ally played a fine mix of deep house and bass track’s, including a superb remix of Wildchild – “renegade master”. In no time at all, Alan & Ally’s set was in full swing, the dance floor nearly full. The good tune’s were flowing, including playing a current favourite of mine, Kolsch – “Der Alte”. They definitely had the dance floor moving and by the end of their set, the Karma Lounge was near capacity.

Up next was Grant Clark, better known as Saizme from Edinburgh duo, Jakk_it&Saizme. Starting off with a chilled out opening track, Saizme quickly upped the tempo with track’s such as Breach – “jack” and the banging remix of Disclosure’s “f in me” by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The Karma crowd showed their appreciation with the clubber’s chant “here we f***ing go”. Further track’s such as Shadow Child’s massive remix of Hot Natured’s – “Reverse Skydiving” and 2006’s Electro house anthem “Exceeder” by Mason, had the crowd switching their chant’s to “whoomp there it is”. Finishing off with a very nice house remix of Lauren Hill – “Doo Wop (that thing), Saizme left the crowd wanting more.

Who better to keep up momentum than Count Clockwork. Armed with their friend and vocalist, KRTS, Count Clockwork took to the deck’s and had the crowd chanting their approval yet again . KRTS more than played his part, whipping the up for it crowd into a frenzy with some witty and well timed vocal’s. A remix of “Eat, sleep, rave, repeat” was blasted through Karma’s highly impressive soundsystem, and it seem’s that all Count Clockwork do is eat, sleep, rave, repeat! They are in very high demand right now and their stock is rising, with very good reason. Lazer’s were hitting clubber’s as they bounced to banger after banger. Count Clockwork had this crowd in the palm of their hand’s. Before you knew it, time was up on the fantastic Soundclash showcase launch night.

Big shout’s have to go to Soundclash and Let’s Go for making this night happen, as well as the superb DJ’s and act’s.

Be sure to catch Count Clockwork, Saizme and the Soundclash DJ’s amongst other’s up at Bogbain’s 12 hour DJ marathon on Saturday September 14th.
