The Whisky River Band have announced, via Facebook,  that founding member Iain Duncan has left the band. The post announced “Iain ( fiddle ) has made the decision to leave the band. After three years and lots of great times and gigs it will be sad to see him go, but we respect his decision and wish him all the best for the future.”

Iain has certainly been an important part of the band and his leaving will have an impact on the sound of the band. Certainly his banter will be missed. Perhaps in reaction to the change of sound, the band have also announced that they will now be known as The Whiskys ; “Also we have made the decision now being a 4 piece that we are dropping the River Band off our name and are going under The Whiskys ( which most people call us anyways )”.

Recording of the follow up to “The Taming of Me” continues with some special guests promised for both the second album and future gigs.

So long live the Whiskys and here’s to Iain, we wish him well in whatever he does next.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
