Bogbain Farm wins “Best Unusual Venue in Scotland” at the annual awards held at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel in association with Event Scotland.

IMG 4368 thumb - Bogbain triumphs at Scottish Event Awards,

The venue beat off competition from the Highlands’ Achnagairn House, Glasgow’s House for an Art Lover and Tall Ship, as well as Edinburgh’s Royal College of Surgeons, and the Ghillie Dhu. Described by judges as being in a unique location and hosting innovative events the venue has evolved over recent years. Yvonne Murray explains “It’s very clear that the direction of our new company is much better suited to the buildings than what went before, and I’m delighted to be leading the charge with Bruce in creating a very special venue for Scotland. It’s a great feeling to be recognised by these prestigious awards – and we’ve only just begun.”

Bogbain’s cobbled floor, stone walls, high ceilings as well as quirky additions such as a saloon bar have clearly been going down well with events such as The Inverness Whisky Festival, Brew at the Bog (sponsored by BrewDog) and the Northern Roots Music Festival having their homes at the venue. Recent events have included The Whisky River Band’s debut album launch. Forthcoming events include Charlotte Church and Bombskare playing.

More details about Charlotte Church’s forthcoming gig, Bogbain Farm and the Brew at the Bog 2012 review.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
