How has 2011 been for you musically?

It’s been an exciting year for Highland music with some of the areas established acts consolidating their hard work of previous years and stepping up to some of the bigger stages effortlessly. The likes of Rachel Sermanni,Iain Mclaughlin and the Outsiders and James Mackenzie were excellent on the larger festival stages. While more than proving themselves amongst others The Frues,The Boosts,The Little Mill of Happiness,Whisky River Band,Sara Bills and the Hasbeens and The Leonard Jones Potential highlighted the richness and diversity currently inherent in the scene.

What was the best local act this year. and why?

I couldn’t possibly choose a favourite…

What was the best non-local act you have seen this year?

Vintage Trouble or Emelie Sande. Morrissey was also outstanding.

What was your favourite music experience this year?

The Steve Kelly and Stetsonhead at Belladrum

What do you want from Santa?

The Ball Deep debut album and tour dates.

What’s your hopes for the music scene in 2012?

I hope to see it continue to grow and for more opportunities for acts to develop locally and nationally.

What are your plans for 2012?

Same as always- try to take over the world!

Got anything to plug?

The Frues,Kai Henderson,Blind Idols and all the fantastic talent of the Highlands!

Thanks to Terry for his time

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
