Brian Vass joined the invernessGiGs team a few weeks ago after moving up to Inverness initially on a temporary basis. He has previously had photos published in The Independant, The Sunday Mail and The Skinny to name a few so we were obviously delighted when he wanted to join the team. So what does he think of 2011?
What’s your involvement in the music scene?
Music photographer.
How has 2011 been for you musically?
Pretty good. My 2011 obsessions have been Feist’s new album Metals, Joanna Newsom and Bombay Bicycle Club. Then there’s the Drive soundtrack that I listen to to feel like Ryan Gosling.
What was the best local act this year. and why?
Well I just moved here a couple of weeks ago, so I’m afraid I can’t really comment on that fairly, though I’ve yet to see a band I haven’t liked.
What was the best non-local act you have seen this year? Two Door Cinema Club at Rockness. They’re not what I’d call one of my favourite bands, but the atmosphere was excellent when they played live.
What was your favourite music experience this year?
Having a dream recently that I was a member of KISS and we played a show while roller skating.
What do you want from Santa?
A Nikon D3S and 14-24mm f2.8.
What’s your hopes for the music scene in 2012?
That there are more and more bands doing their own thing, taking risks, and being original.
What are your plans for 2012?
Take lots of photos and listen to lots of music.
Got anything to plug?
