Inverness Gigs Photographer Involved in National Exhibition

Roddy McKenzie , frequent contributor of Inverness Gigs , has featured in the Celebrating Free Events For All in Glasgow.

Celebrating Free Events For All is a UK wide event run in several venues from  the Bargehouse ,London, to The Lighthouse, Glasgow. The aims of the exhibition are to showcase a few of the many free events that take place through a selection of powerful photography, capturing the important role free events play in bringing people together, allowing us to connect over shared interests and experiences, celebrate our diversity, and create unforgettable memories.

The Glasgow version of the exhibition included iconic events over the decades through rare and unseen contemporary photography: ranging from the stunning spectacle of Strathaven Balloon Festival to the carnival atmosphere of Glasgow’s West End Festival Parade. It was perhaps obvious that a picture from XpoNorth, the free creative industries festival based in the Highlands and Islands , was selected by curators Jed Howlett, Maria Simou and Emma Waine.

The particular image (above) selected was of JR Green , the Stronian siblings who blend folk, accordian and acoustic guitar, at their gig at the XpoNorth Showcase in 2014.
