Formed in 2024 but rooted in jam sessions stretching back to 2022, Riff Bank South have grown into one of Inverness’ most assured new rock outfits. The arrival of Dougie Boyle and Scott Maclean sharpened the band’s direction, turning long-developing riffs into the material that became Filthy Lucre.

Their headline show at Upstairs on 21 February marked another step forward. The set blended rock, blues and flashes of metal, driven by hook-heavy riffs, loud drums and choruses built for a packed room. Tracks such as Take the Money carried the bite of the EP’s themes, while newer material hinted at an even bigger sound.

With early gigs building confidence and festival slots on the horizon, this felt less like a launch and more like a statement of intent. These photographs capture a band settling into their identity and enjoying every minute of it on stage.
