DJ:X interviews the three members of Space Van ahead of their performance this Friday at
Belladrum Festival on the Seedlings Stage.
Q: What can we expect from your set at Belladrum?
Mark: You can expect an exciting, exhilarating experience that’ll take you through space and
time—literally and musically. We love to bring high energy, big riffs, and a bit of chaos in the
best possible way. If you’re into music that makes you move and moments that make you
feel like you’re part of something, this is the show for you.
Steve: Yeah, if you like rock music and you like the idea of Van Halen jamming with
Audioslave after a few pints, then this might just be the best half hour of your entire
weekend. We pack a lot into 30 minutes—there’s no time to mess around. It’s going to be
loud, it’s going to be sweaty, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Q: What have you been up to since you last played Belladrum in 2023?
Mark: Honestly—what haven’t we done? It’s been a wild ride. We’ve written a ton of new
material, tightened up our live show, released a few singles, and basically thrown ourselves
into growing the band. The only thing we haven’t done is Belladrum 2024! (The band
laughs.)
Iain: We’ve really been getting out there—taking the Space Van name across the country.
We’ve played everywhere from London to Edinburgh, from Newcastle to Bradford. It’s been
amazing seeing new faces and getting to know new crowds. Every gig feels like a step
forward and we’re loving the journey.
Q: What’s next for Space Van?
Steve: Big things, we hope! We’re heading into the studio to record our debut album, which
we’re aiming to release in 2026. That’ll be a big milestone for us. We’re planning a very
special hometown gig to mark the occasion—something for the day-ones and the new fans
alike. After that, we’ll be back out on the road again, playing new places, returning to old
favourites, and meeting more people who want to come along for the ride. This band is all
about connection and energy, and we’ve got a lot more of that to share.
Q: What would be on your dream festival rider?
Mark: Right, this is important. We’re talking a proper, all-out world buffet
situation—Chinese food, curry, burgers, pizza, steak… the full works. No half measures. Andto wash it down? Ice-cold Peroni served by Ewoks, naturally. And there has to be a guy
called Geoffrey—don’t ask why, it just feels right. Festival magic, innit?
