We catch up with Folk’d Up, Bella 24 Interview and ask them a few questions.

What would be your FFO list?

Anyone who likes a bit of Folk n Roll

Tell us a little about how the band came to be and a story so far.

Chris Bain and Simon Wharton had been jamming and writing tunes for a couple of years and had some decent material and decided to get a band together. They then got in touch with Fraser McLean who then contacted Andy Williamson (drummer) and Richard Stewart (bass) the rehearsals sounding great so then decided it was time to start playing some shows.

As an act, how has 2024 treated you so far?

So far so good we have really just started out gigging but got some great gigs lined up for next year and looking forward to letting everyone hear Folk n Roll!!!

You have three original songs to wow the Belladrum audience, which ones would they be and why?

‘Whisky Eyes’ , ‘She’ Said’ and ‘Your World’ they are the tunes we have recorded so far. Although the current band members aren’t all on them recordings so we plan to go into the studio next month to start recording an album

Festivals are renowned for horrible clashes, which act on the Belladrum line-up would you least like to clash with and why?

Most of the band wanted to catch Ocean Colour Scene but turns out we are on at the same time as them. That’s a bugger but we will just try to be louder than them

What are you favourite memories of Belladrum? If it’s your first time, what Is the draw to playing Belladrum?

Chris favourite memory is being the first band on at the first Belladrum with the Jyrojets. Fraser doesn’t have much of a memory but recalls playing the grassroots stage with The Whiskys. Apparently the night before was a bit bonkers!!!

Given the Love theme, if you had to create a love playlist with only five songs, what would be on it?

Ben Folds – The Luckiest

Johnny Cash – Hurt

Deacon Blue – Chocolate Girl

Joy Division- Love Will Tear Us Apart

UB40 – Don’t Break my Heart

If you could travel back in time which Belladrum would you like to revisit?

it’s got to be the first or 2nd. Loved it when a lot less people attended. I remember 40 or 50 caravans in a field not 1000s

In your act’s repertoire, what is the most romantic song you have?

Your World

What’s on the horizon for you after Belladrum?

Straight into the studio to start recording an album. Hopefully some more decent gigs will come our way after Bella.

See Folk’d Up on the Free Range Stage on Friday 26th at 9:45pm and you can keep track of the band at Facebook.
