Contemporary Celtic Legends to Rock Inverness in 2024
Skipinnish, the contemporary Celtic sensation, is gearing up for a monumental milestone. As their 25th anniversary approaches, the band has just announced an electrifying anniversary concert that’s set to make waves in the Celtic music scene.
What began as a casual jam between two college friends in early 1999 has since morphed into a musical powerhouse. Their journey from that initial tune and a dram to headlining sell-out shows across the country’s biggest music venues is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
In 2024, Skipinnish will mark a quarter-century of musical excellence with an anniversary concert on Saturday, July 6th. The venue? The iconic Big Top under canvas at Bught Park, Inverness. It’s an event that promises to be the crown jewel in Skipinnish’s storied career.
This journey has seen Skipinnish ascend to the pinnacle of Celtic music. Once a small ceilidh band, they’ve evolved into something uniquely powerful. Songs like “Alive,” “The Island,” “Last of the Hunters,” and “Walking on the Waves” have resonated across the globe, attracting audiences far beyond their wildest dreams.
Skipinnish founder member, Angus MacPhail, expressed his excitement about the anniversary concert: “The Highlands and Islands are the heartland of our music, and it feels very fitting that we are able to mark our 25th birthday with a major show in Inverness.”
This concert is the first to be announced for the Live in the City 2024 series, organized by Inverness-based concert promoters, LCC Live.
Les Kidger, director of LCC Live, added, “Skipinnish were out of this world when they last performed there in 2022, and their fans had the most amazing night, so we can’t wait to do it all again for their 25th anniversary.”
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this historic celebration. Tickets for Skipinnish’s ‘The 25th Anniversary Concert’ go on sale at 9 am on Friday, September 29th, 2023, at www.ticketline.co.uk, and in person from Caffery’s Menswear in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness.
