With a change of direction, new music and name sees Gordon James and the Power head into 2023 as Into the Pines

Their new sound will play to the ears of fans of bands such as City and Colour, Mumford & Sons and Lord Huron. With this change of direction Into the Pines describe their new style as, “Country revival fused with contemporary feel good music.”

They release their first single ‘Gravitate’ on 11th November, which features special guest Matt Kelly of City and Colour on steel pedal and it has been mixed by the very talented Justin Hill. The release of ‘Gravitate’ will be closely followed by a second single which leans into a Scottish feel complimented a couple of special guest performers.

“We can’t wait to get their new music out there for everyone to enjoy”

Into the Pines will continue to work on their self-produced album, that’s true to their live sound, over the festive period. They are looking forward to sharing more new music in 2023 with lots of festivals and gigs planned following what has been a challenging two years for many musicians.

Chartered surveyor by day, music reviewer by night, and occasionally I get to use my camera. A strange mix, but one that I enjoy. A chance meeting in the queue for Bella in 2010 led to the opportunity to write for InvernessGigs; a far cry from the days of writing for a football fanzine back in the late 80s, early 90s. My interests lie between the mainstream, the emerging and the local. Increasingly I find that we have more than enough locally to entertain us to necessitate a trip south. I’m always happy to give a listen, whatever the genre. Inverness has a plethora of talent, all of which I am more than keen to write about. If it encourages just one person to make the effort to listen to some new music I’ll be happy. You can contact Frank direct via frankieboyfin@gmail.com
