A collective of Highland musicians featuring former members of Rhythm N Reel, KOBI & Toby Michaels Rolling Damned that was formed during lockdown have got together to record a single in support of Maggie’s Highland after the centre was recently broken into and vandalised.
The group are called Asleep at the Reel and have produced a cover of “Suddenly I See” written and originally performed by KT Tunstall.
“We’ve chosen this song as it’s a song about light and hope which we thought would be fitting given the circumstances” said bassist Steve Robertson.
Frontman and guitarist Jim Kennedy adds “It was incredibly saddening to read about this destruction in a place that has offered comfort to many in the community so we wanted to do our bit with all proceeds going to the charity people can help just by streaming the track”.
Asleep at the Reel are a celtic rock inspired group with the single being recorded and produced within 5 days between the members of the bands individual homes and the music shed rehearsal space in Inverness.
The band are yet to perform live but are keen to play a debut live performance in early 2021 in aid of Maggies Highland.
With the future of live music uncertain the band hopes to perform a debut high profile gig in aid of Maggies Highland in early 2021.
