Katie Gregson-MacLeod releases new single Still a Sad Song’.

You may have already heard of Katie Gregson-MacLeod, whether it was watching her set at Belladrum 2019, seeing her support artists such as Moteh Parrott and Emme Woods, or even at her own (sold out) intimate gig in Inverness. But as she changes up her acoustic style to bedroom pop, prepare to hear her as you perhaps haven’t before.

Katie’s debut single ‘Still a Sad Song’ is a soundtrack for the current conditions. This is especially reflected in the music video, as the tune is performed from the comfort of the singer’s own home. I think we can all relate to dancing around our bedrooms whilst singing into a hairbrush right now – or at least I can. Creating a new single seems hard enough without having to release it during a global pandemic, but Katie has definitely shown us how it’s done.

The song is very much in my head as I write this. It has a chorus that is so catchy, yet so captivating. I find myself becoming invested in the story behind the lyrics; are they still a sad song? Either way, I can’t imagine a voice more fitting to this track than Katie’s.

Despite the name ‘Still a Sad Song’, the tune instead made me happy and excited to hear more from this artist in the Inverness music scene. That is, when it’s safe to switch the hairbrush for a microphone.

Single is released via normal digital platforms now.
