Rocking for Roz brings together a collection of local acts and buisnesses to raise money for Roz Patterson
On Friday 22nd of February at Inverness Leisure centre, a night of musical entertainment will be provided to help support and raise money for the “Rockin for Roz” campaign. The money will go towards mum of two, Roz Paterson’s Go Fund Me campaign for potentially lifesaving cancer treatment in the USA, with hopes of raising £500,000 in total.
Roz was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer last summer and once she found out that chemotherapy wasn’t working, she actively tried to find another solution which came in the form of Car-T Cell therapy using medicine called Kymriah at Boston Massachusetts General Hospital, this medication not being available on the NHS in Scotland.
So, local bands such as Scooty and The Skyhooks, Torridon, Highland Voices and Kinky Karma will be performing on the night with more to be announced, to help raise the cash to get Roz to America.
When Roz heard the news of “Rocking for Roz” she said:
“I’m bowled over by the scale and ambition of this event, I’m lost for words! To feel the support, energy and raw, human goodness of so many people, wow. I want to say thank you to everyone involved.”
The whole community has been involved in supporting Roz’s appeal, with local businesses who work in the local music scene organising the event saying:
“Roz’s story is truly heart breaking and when we heard of her plight to fundraise for treatment, immediately we knew we had to do something to help.’
LCC Live presents Rocking for Roz with Scooty and The Skyhooks, Torridon, Highland Voices and more as they play Inverness Leisure Centre on the 22nd of February, 2019.
