Be Like Pablo, 100 Fables and Pyro to play Tooth & Claw in April.

Off Axis bring their first  Inverness show to the Tooth and Claw in April. Off Axis is a not-for-profit touring/gig swapping network that enables bands to play gigs and festivals in over 75 towns and cities throughout the UK. An initiative developed by the award-winning, global music development agency Un-Convention, Off Axis is inspired by Fora do Eixo in Brazil and has an emerging band stage at festivals including Kendal Calling, Blackthorn Festival and will be adding many more throughout 2018.

The first Inverness show has a cracking line up with:

Be Like Pablo. Thanks to a knack for writing super catchy songs the Forres power-pop five-piece sound something along the lines of The Beach Boys and Wheezer with added indie fuzz, synthesisers, four-part harmonies and Scottish accents. They’ve been championed by Drowned In Sound, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Scotland on Sunday and new single ‘My Kind of Girl’ was recently BBC Radio Scotland’s Single of the Week.

100 Fables are an energetic, 80s-influenced, electro girl/boy quartet from Glasgow. They’ve had airplay from Vic Galloway via BBC Introducing, Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio, BBC Radio Scotland and American radio show Passport Approved. They’ve also played festivals like Isle of Wight Festival, Carnival 56 and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and have supported artists including, Glasvegas, The View, Girli, Deacon Blue and Gun.

Last but certainly not least, PYRO who are an indie-rock duo from Bathgate in West Lothian. The two school friends formed in 2016 (age just 16 years old) and have since been featured by Jim Gellatly, supported artists like Jamie & Shoony and played festivals like Mugstock, Stereofunk and EH6 Festival. Beginning with a hometown launch in Bathgate on 21 April they tour Scotland in support of their new single ‘Too far gone.’

Off Axis bring their first  Inverness show to the Tooth and Claw on Saturday 28 April with the line up of Be Like Pablo, 100 Fables and PYRO. For tickets to the show click here.

Chartered surveyor by day, music reviewer by night, and occasionally I get to use my camera. A strange mix, but one that I enjoy. A chance meeting in the queue for Bella in 2010 led to the opportunity to write for InvernessGigs; a far cry from the days of writing for a football fanzine back in the late 80s, early 90s. My interests lie between the mainstream, the emerging and the local. Increasingly I find that we have more than enough locally to entertain us to necessitate a trip south. I’m always happy to give a listen, whatever the genre. Inverness has a plethora of talent, all of which I am more than keen to write about. If it encourages just one person to make the effort to listen to some new music I’ll be happy. You can contact Frank direct via frankieboyfin@gmail.com
