Inverness Gigs has been shortlisted for Best Use of Digital Media in the Highland and Island Media Awards 2018.
The category “Best Use of Digital Media” is awarded for representation of Highlands and Islands news or features on the web. Short listing was overseen by judges including Gordon Fyfe (former journalist and communications manager at The Highland Council); John Ross (head of media content at System2 and former Highlands and Islands correspondent at The Scotsman); Iain MacDonald (ex-BBC); Nicola McAlley (STV); David Cannon (CalMac); Lesley Gallagher (HIE), Mairi Bertram (HIE) and Murdo Morrison (Bord na Gaidhlig). We are joined on the shortlist by some impressive competitors in both David Flanagan and Katie Laing.
As a small Inverness based website we champion the local music scene from festivals to newly emerging acts. In 2017 that has taken us from Loopallu to The Libertines with hundreds of pages of content in between.
The model that we use to support the website is through basic advertising and general good will, so everything is either completed in-house or take advantage of the aforementioned good will. It is important to emphasise that we have utilised digital media to it’s very best on a minimal budget. Inverness Gigs is fuelled by hard work, tenacity and a passion to support the local music scene.
Editor and owner of the website, Chris Lemon said; “Short-listing for the award ,on a third occasion acknowledges all the support and hard-work that has put into the site since it’s creation in 2010, and we wish to take the opportunity to thank everybody involved in making it a success.”
Winners will be announced at the Highlands and Islands Press Ball, which is celebrating its thirtieth year, on Friday the 3rd of February.
One of the best ways to keep up to date with the website is by joining the Inverness Gigs mailing list.
