Liza Mulholland at Glenmoriston Hotel, Inverness on the 10th of September, 2016. Review.
There were plenty of roses on display at the launch of Liza Mulholland’s first solo album, at Inverness’ Glenmoriston Hotel, last weekend. Which was apt really, considering the album’s aspirational title, Fine ‘n’ Rosy.
You might know Liza from her role as one quarter of Dorec-a-belle. Here, she has spread her wings with her keyboard and accordion skills – and her songwriting – giving us a rootsy, bright acoustic palette of tunes to enjoy.
For the CD launch, Liza played a few tracks from Fine ‘n’ Rosy. She was joined by some of the album’s musicians: Alasdair Taylor on guitar and Dave Martin on percussion – Dave also recorded the album in deepest Culduthel. And on bass, the ever-present Robin Abbot (is this man cloned? Can he bi-locate? Does he ever sleep?). We tapped our feet, children danced, and Liza was as entrancing and beguiling as ever.
Fine ‘n’ Rosy is available in local music stores and online.
