Our pick of gigs in and around Inverness for July 2016.
July can be a difficult month as it’s a bit of a no man’s land, sandwiched between the aftermath of June with Brew at the Bog and XpoNorth and the anticipation of Belladrum, Groove and such like.
So we have taken it upon ourselves to seek out a few gems that we recommend in the area for the month;
Get OutDores

The OutDores team have already had one forray this year and whilst the rain tried to dampen the event, it certainly did not affect the enthusiasm of the organisers in arranging the second. The line-up for this event will include Big Miz and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. Ticket sales are going well and remember if you can’t make the full event, the after party hosted at Encore Une Fois promises to be a big one.

The support that has been garnered for Stephanie Inglis can only be equalled by the sensational steps forward in her recovery that she has made in the past few weeks. This fundraiser is one of two (you can check out the other here) arranged by Steve Robertson and Miranda Neall .
The Ironworks will host the ever popular Scooty and the Skyhooks who will be joined by Slammin’ Sammy & the Jam Band, The Mystic Shoes. The Susanna Wolfe Band and Ezra.
Gig is at The Ironworks on the 22nd of July. Tickets can be purchased via The Ironworks Venue website.
Broken Ravens

Having just played XpoNorth in June, the rock, or let’s be clear undeniable RAWWWKKKK band who recently announced that they would be crossing the Atlantic in November to play Hollywood’s Whisky a Go Go. Whilst we have caught the band several times recently it will be great to catch them topping the bill of their own gig.
With support from Lawless and the Leash, the gig at Mad Hatters is on the 15th of July, free entry.
Summer Pleasures
![Five Gigs To Look Forward To - July Pure Grief at XpoNorth 2016 2 of 4 1 530x352 - Five Gigs To Look Forward To - July](https://igi.gs/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Pure-Grief-at-XpoNorth-2016-2-of-4-1-530x352.jpg)
With Netsounds returning the Pleasures brand, this time replacing the Unknown and the Guilty with the seasonal, “Summer” edition. Utilising a format akin to the previous Showcases that were last seen in the Ironworks circa 2014, the night will see “eight local buzz acts who are determined to make a name for themselves”.
Dr. Wook & The Voltaic Disorder, The Strives, Pure Grief, Spoke Too Soon, Laurence Made Me Cry, Logan McGee, Tamzene and Michiel Turner complete the line-up.
Tickets , for the event to be held on the 30th of July, can be purchased via The Ironworks Venue website. (NB you can support the acts by buying direct from themselves)

It’s hard to question promoter’s Brian Jamieson’s pedigree in ,and enthusiasm for, the Hip Hop scene, with the regular night held at Mad Hatter’s emphasising his passion for the genre. In March we saw Shelltoe Mel, Respek BA, Big Div and Echo, this time around we have Steg-G,Wee D, Simmons is Old, DJ Butterscotch, K9 and Kev & Rory O’Bryne.
Church Street Hip-Hop to be held on July the 29th at Mad Hatters, free entry.
Keep an eye on our what’s on Inverness guide for other events on in the area, and of course we would love you to be on our mailing list so that you don’t miss anything.
