Findhorn Bay Festival announces Julie Fowlis as the opening act of the event’s second year.
Whilst she entered into popular consciousness with ‘Touch the Sky’ for Disney hit movie Brave (a song which is not always a “shoe-in” for her sets as shown by her 2013 Belladrum set), the multi-instrumentalist folk credentials are hard to argue. This was consolidated with her nomination for BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards 2015, as ‘Folk Singer of the Year’.
Julie was clearly pleased to play the event; “I’m delighted to be coming to the festival, and especially to be collaborating with local musicians and singers. I love the idea of performing in the beautiful setting of St Laurence Church in Forres.”
The initiative announcement has led to much anticipation for the complete line up “I cannot wait to launch the full festival programme on July 14th.” Festival director Kresanna Aigner added “There is a range of creative talent from near and far participating in this second edition of the Festival – something to inspire everyone.”
The full Findhorn Bay Festival 2016 programme which is to be held from September 21st to the 26th, will be launched in mid-July. For more information about the event and to buy tickets, check the official website.
