Teenage Fanclub to play The Ironworks in November.
The Scottish alternative rock band were once allegedly described as the “the best band in the world” by Kurt Corbain, although the quote was questioned by Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake. in 1991 Teenage Fanclub’s ‘Bandwagonesque’ beat ‘Nevermind’ to Spin’s album of the year a decision that may not stand up well with hindsight but is still staunchly defended by some.
Having managed over a quarter of a century as a band, Blake explained the longevity down to “the fact that there are three writers in the band” later adding “We’ve shared this burden and hopefully that’s allowed us to maintain a decent standard.” With tracks like ‘I Don’t Want Control of You’, Everything Flows’ and ‘The Concept’, it could be argued that the band have managed more than “decent” standard.
The past couple of years have seen them recording in studios in Provence, Glasgow and Hamburg. Whilst their Facebook page heralded the post-production phase of the new album, way back in September, no recent news has been forthcoming for the LP.
However Inverness is the first date of a 16 date UK tour for the band, with a previous shorter series of dates have sold out very quickly indeed.
