Tiny Ruins to play Inverness in May.
Hailing from New Zealand, although vocalist Hollie Fullbrook was born in Bristol, the four piece “traverse early influences of folk and blues” whilst the sound “draws on ethereal and grungy soundscapes alike”. Full brook , herself, draws similarities to Nick Drake, Mazzy Star or Nico.
Tiny Ruins originated as a solo project but the expansion over the years, in a 2014 interview she explained “at the end of the day the performances are way more interesting for the audiences”. In the various guises of the band Tiny Ruins have supported The Handsome Family, Sharon Van Etten, Father John Misty, Jose Gonzalez and many more.
With 2011 debut ‘Some Were Meant for Sea‘ earning plaudits including For Folk’s Sake who described it as “an album of such simple, devastating beauty” and earned the 2011’s Album of the Year by BBC’s ‘World of Music’.
An EP was released lat last year ‘Hurtling Through’ which featured two poems by W.B.Yeats set to music. Work on the third album is ongoing, despite a hectic touring schedule which has seen the band play several dates ion Australia.
