Highland Support Refugees Fundraiser for May.

The gig will see a selection of local the song-writers supporting the event. Rachel Sermanni will be making a rare appearance in the venue, having headlining the likes of the Eden Court and Ironworks, James Mackenzie has just finished supporting Runrig on ‘The Story’ tour, Megan Blyth will be returning to the stage after spending the latter part of 2015 gigging outside of Inverness and recording new material. Also on the bill is frontman of Red Kites and co-organiser of the event, Moteh Parrott.

The Fundraiser has been put together by Hootananny music programmer Steve Robertson and Moteh. He is also currently walking the 335 mile Lycian Way in Turkey to help raise money for Highlands Support Refugees (you can support him directly at the earth ways website). The organisation that he is raising money for are a collective who are working tirelessly to help refugees. Since September 4th, 2015, they have dispatched almost 2000 boxes of aid to Europe.

Moteh explained the value of the organisation and where fund raising is going;

HSR are carrying out incredible work, bringing together the highlands as a community to help tackle the injustice of the refugee crisis. In order to continue sending vital aid to camps across Europe, they need to raise funds to cover the shipping costs of containers. This is where the ticket money from this gig will be spent.

The gig will be held on Sunday May 1st at Hootananny, Inverness with tickets on sale now online.
