Karen Matheson to play Eden Court in June.

With 30 years of performing, she was awarded an OBE in 2006 for services to Scottish Music. Karen Matheson is probably most often recognised for her role in the internationally renowned celtic super-group, Capercaillie.

As a solo artist Karen’s involvement in the BBC’s Transatlantic Sessions has seen her film tracks with the likes of James Taylor and Nanci Griffiths. She grabbed the attention of the world with her  rendition of ‘Ae fond kiss’ stole the show at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

Karen has released four albums the most recent of which ‘URRAM’ir?t=wwwinvernessg 21&l=as2&o=2&a=B014IB6L9K - Capercaillie Vocalist For Inverness Datedrew together musicians from around the world Seiko Keita of Senegal and Soumik Datta of India and a bit closer to home with the likes of Innes White, Sorren MacLean and Donald Shaw.

Reviewer, Neil McFadyen concluded his review of her latest offering by saying;

Urram is bold, it’s imaginative and it’s a thrill to listen to. Urram isn’t a change in direction, it’s the next step in a fascinating journey.

Although it is the closing line of her website bio, a quote by Sean Connery that really caught our imagination;

Karen Matheson has a throat that is surely touched by God

Scottish Folk Promotions presents Karen Matheson at Eden Court (One Touch Theatre) on Sunday June 12th,2016.
