Indie Punksters Make Mad Hatters Debut

Jamie & Shoony to play Mad Hatters in January.

This month, Jamie & Shoony fill the gap left by The Amphetameanies who will no longer be playing Mad Hatters. Not sure of the reasons for this popular band not playing but a post on their facebook page states when commenting on another ska gig “ But sadly, we aren’t playing it, cos we couldn’t organise a shite in a bucket at the moment.” Best left there I suppose.

In the meantime Jamie & Shoony don’t mess around. They are an urban indie punk quartet that exhilarate audiences whenever they play their full throttle and exuberant live shows.
Their ballsy Scottish anthems have them making waves in Scotland with a growing loyal fanbase. In 2015 they played to sell-out crowds in some of the country’s finest venues such as the O2 ABC, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, The Electric Circus and Saint Luke’s.

They were crowned ‘Best Live Act’ at The Local Music Scene Awards but the main highlight for the band was playing to over 8,000 people at Linlithgow’s Party at The Palace supporting Nile Rodgers with CHIC.

The lads are set to release their highly anticipated debut E.P. in early 2016 with a nationwide tour for their debut E.P. which includes a date playing Glasgow’s infamous Barrowlands in March.

Good to see Jamie & Shoony filling in on January 30th. In the words of the Bulgarian proverb; Seize the opportunity by the beard, for it is bald behind…

Chartered surveyor by day, music reviewer by night, and occasionally I get to use my camera. A strange mix, but one that I enjoy. A chance meeting in the queue for Bella in 2010 led to the opportunity to write for InvernessGigs; a far cry from the days of writing for a football fanzine back in the late 80s, early 90s. My interests lie between the mainstream, the emerging and the local. Increasingly I find that we have more than enough locally to entertain us to necessitate a trip south. I’m always happy to give a listen, whatever the genre. Inverness has a plethora of talent, all of which I am more than keen to write about. If it encourages just one person to make the effort to listen to some new music I’ll be happy. You can contact Frank direct via frankieboyfin@gmail.com
