Groove CairnGorm announce line-up

A strong line-up of actsĀ announced for the first ever resort based Snowsports Festivals in the UK.

With the dates announced for March 11th and 12th 2015, Groove Cairngorm have now announced the first acts to play the event (line-up for the mountain entertainment will be announced in the forthcoming months. Headliners for the event will be Grandmaster FlashĀ who quite clearly enjoyed his Belladrum 2014 slot enough to warrant a return to the area andĀ electro-pop synthesizer driven rhythmsĀ Hot Chip (performing a DJ Set).

DJ Yoda who released his “Breakfast Of Champions” earlier this year to rave reviews, will be joined on the bill byĀ underground electronic tastemaker DJ Monki and the “real princes of UK garage” Eton Messy.

Perhaps surprisingly, Groove moves away from it DJ roots by announcing a slew of other acts including the charming festival fodder of The Cuban Brothers, Prides who had hinted at a return to Inverness when they played Drumnadrochit in August. Niteworks will bring their hybrid contemporary / traditional tunes and will be joined by MG Alba ‘Up and Coming Act of the Year’ 2014 winners The Elephant Sessions. Of course it is unsurprising that Spring Break will continue their momentum from 2015 by also playing the event.

The festival, which will take place over the weekend of the 11th-12th March 2016, will be hosted in conjunction with Cairngorm Mountain Ltd, in the town of Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands.Ā As well as regular snowsports, the event takes place over the same weekend as the Scottish Freestyle Championships, so expect to see some of the country’s top riders grabbing some big air during the day.Ā Following the snowsports and entertainment each day up on the mountain, there will be aprĆØs-ski with live music and world class DJs until the early hours on Friday and Saturday in a big top in Aviemore.

ā€œWe’re bringing snowsports back to their spiritual home! After the success of the inaugural Groove Loch Ness this summer, we just couldn’t wait a whole year for our next party, and we are very excited to be partnering with Cairngorm Mountain to be delivering this unique event in the UK’s festival calendarā€ said one of Groove founders, Sam Barker.

Tickets on sale Friday 27th November at 10am from the Skiddle website. There are a number of early bird tickets including 2 day mountain snowsports passes and 2 nights Apre-ski Big Top Entertainment (Fri11th/Sat12th) are available for £100. Standard pricing varies from £65 -£140
