Interview with Ally Ridgers.

In his time with Soundclash DJs , Ally Ridgers has supported the likes of 2ManyDjs, Jack Beats and Toddla T whilst also curating the Monster Fm DJ Showcase for the last three years. Ally is fresh off playing Groove, so we thought we would ask him about his experience.

How did you prepare for the Groove slot?

Pretty much the same as any other sets by filling a playlist on Rekordbox with tunes new and old I think will work a crowd and with it being a dance festival the crowd were well up for it. :)

Taking to the Red Bull truck, what were your feelings about how the set went?

The Red Bull truck is really cool and a great and unusual stage to play and size of the tent certainly created a great atmosphere as it was pretty packed out during my set which is always nice for a DJ. Had so much fun playing in there as did most the other DJ’s who i spoke to.

What were your highlights from the festival?

The whole festival itself was perfect from the main stage line up, the size of it and the way the main stage came to life when the darkness kicked in was amazing. Groove Armada and 2ManyDjs were amazing but Tensnake’s set was pretty special. Wanted to see BTraits but her set clashed with mine which was a shame so only caught her last few tracks.

You’ve had the opportunity of playing Rockness in the past, how did the two festivals compare?

Groove definitely had the same vibe as the first RockNess in 2006 and that’s what I loved but as much as I loved RockNess that’s now in the past and if this years Groove is anything to go by I’m excited for what next year has to offer and hopefully years to come. It certainly has the right people running it and that excites me.

Eyes are looking towards Groove 2016; which acts would you like to see playing?

Good question :) I’d love to see JESuS (Jackmaster, Eats Everything & Seth Troxler)on that main stage. Carl Cox back playing 10 years after the first RockNess would be special. Red Bull stage to return to cater for local Djs which I think is a great touch.

Maybe another wee tent/stage to cater for other genres of dance music. To be honest its perfect the way it is :)

What’s next on your agenda?

Well this year has been mental already but next up is the yearly installment of The SoundClash Monster FM Radio shows and this year is the biggest and best yet with Hacienda Legend Graeme Park heading the line up (Full line up and info) .

We will also be throwing a launch party with the guys from Thuture out at the amazing Dores Inn Gardens on Loch Ness on Sat 5th September 12pm-late. Also I will be looking to do a few more SoundClashLIVE streaming shows towards the end of year.
