Music Fans Pilot Social Network

A new project to help musicians and other interested parties build networks and relationships to help forward their ambitions will be launched in August.

The brainchild of Martin Mackay aka Gramophone DJ working with Chris Lemon of IGigs, initially planned as a very informal occasion. Martin explains;

“I wanted to create a space to be creative, think about new ideas and work with people. There is so much added enthusiasm and enjoyment created by festival season and we really wanted to help use some of it’s potential.”

The night is open to musicians and those interested in the music scene, regardless of genre and experience. So whether you have been playing for years, or are interested in getting into the scene, the opportunity is to come and meet like minded people.

Given that there is such as a vibrant scene it is hoped to attract anyone from musicians to photographers, via sound engineers, the list is endless and the value of face to face contact can really bring an extra dimension and usefulness to the dynamic.

Chris Lemon explains;

“The music community is so strong in the area and this is a way of helping to consolidate the strong support and infrastructure. Facebook and other social networks are great, but the opportunity to bring musicians together is invaluable. I love the idea of creating another space where a musician is able to talk directly with say a graphic designer, a photographer, a promoter or indeed another musician to build working relationships”

The first night will be held at Velocity, the social enterprise run cafe and bicycle workshop in Inverness, that also plays host to a variety of creative events from poetry evenings the Dougie Burn’s organised music nights.

The first event will be held  from 630-830 pm on the 14th of August.

More details will be posted on the Facebook event page.
