Formed in 1995 and winning the attentions of the likes of Steve Lamacq, Idlewild were dubbed as “the UK’s answer to REM” the gained popular success with albums including ‘100 Broken Windows’, ‘The Remote Part’ and ‘Warnings/Promises’.

The band’s most recent album, and their first since 2009, ‘Everything Ever Written’ir?t=wwwinvernessg 21&l=as2&o=2&a=B00S773H0S - Idlewild for Ironworks was released in February this year. Roddy in an article for The Guardian of the album said “At times this is our most mellow record and at others, our most chaotic – consistently though, it is our most confident”.

Matthew Slaughter, of Drowned in Sound, reassures; “it is a genuine progression for what feels, from the first moments of surging guitar on ‘Collect Yourself’ to the closing shudder of melancholic piano on ‘Utopia’ like a band revitalised, newly confident and assured in their art.”

Idlewild have had a busy summer of festival performances including Glastonbury, HebCelt and Beautiful Days, with short tours in USA and Japan preceding their trip to Inverness.

The band play The Ironworks on the 25th of November. Tickets avaailable via The Ironworks website.
