Public Service Broadcasting with support from the Smoke Fairies at The Ironworks, Inverness, 1/5/2015. Pictures.
Having recently released their self-named album in April, Smoke Fairies made the trip up north to be support for the evening.
“a mixture of the husky pop femme sensations Haim and the slightly more edgy rock group Deap Vally”
An impressive crowd for Public Service Broadcasting, returning to the area having played the venue as well as a couple of the local festivals in the past.
Four star reviews, almost all the way for the new album Race to Space, their live show also continues to win plaudits.
Poignantly ‘Everest’ was dedicated to Nepal, as they had done at previous gigs since the earthquake.
Upwards and onwards for the band, following the tour the guys are also on the bill for The Strokes’ Hyde Park gig
Life-long engagement with music and a truly eclectic taste (although prog-rock and metal will usually have me scrambling for the off button). If pushed, I would have to say the Velvet Underground are one of the most important band’s of all time. Although I consider myself first and foremost a photographer, as regards reviewing I guess I cut my teeth in the vibrant fanzine scene of the 80’s. Around the same time I started taking photographs and, to be brief, performance and photography were made for each other: perfect match.
