Reeling In The Year

Rhythmnreel Hogmanay Bash, Ironworks, Inverness. 31/12/2014.

Oh yes, a Steely Dan pun that I resisted this time last year. Well frankly I had to find something different to say because I could have simply cut a pasted last years words, changed a few numbers and it would all have been true.

This was another great Hogmanay night at The Ironworks with Rhythmnreel on top form (but then I’ve never seen them in any other form) and a full house of revelers also in top form and up for a party.

There was dancing, singing and selfies aplenty. Food, drink, fireworks, dancing and music all under one roof. The events and gig calendar for 2015 is already filling up nicely, keep in touch peeps – Happy New Year.

Life-long engagement with music and a truly eclectic taste (although prog-rock and metal will usually have me scrambling for the off button). If pushed, I would have to say the Velvet Underground are one of the most important band’s of all time. Although I consider myself first and foremost a photographer, as regards reviewing I guess I cut my teeth in the vibrant fanzine scene of the 80’s. Around the same time I started taking photographs and, to be brief, performance and photography were made for each other: perfect match.
