Eden Court welcomes North Hop on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August. North Hop is a new craft beer festival celebrating not only a host of Scottish craft beers but also cocktails and gin, specialist food and a fine range of local acts.
Headlining on the Friday night and fresh from a storming set at the Hothouse Stage at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival are Lionel. Lionel are becoming one of the acts to see in the north and Friday night would be a great opportunity to hear them play on the One Touch Theatre Stage at Eden Court.
The Saturday night headline slot belongs to The Oxides. The Oxides have recently made a couple of personnel changes but are back with as much ambition and swagger as ever. Full on indie rock from a band that uses up every ounce of energy on stage.
Also appearing are the highly thought of Huntly trio Daydream Frenzy who have been making waves with the likes of Blink 182’s Tom Delonge being a fan and gaining a support slot with Big Country. Also named so far are: Megan Blyth, Dylan Tierney, James Mackenzie, Sara Bills, Hannah Finlayson, Woodentooth, Craig Robertson, Penniless Moth, Susanna Wolfe, Neon Knights and A Clockwork DJ.
With more to be announced very shortly there is a real depth of local music talent on show to accompany the craft beer.
And who are those craft beer producers I hear you ask? There are ten in total and some of those are just on our doorstep such as the Loch Ness Brewery and Cromarty.
As we head east we have Windswept, Brewdog, Deeside and 6º North. Eden represent St Andrews, while Inveralmond are showing what Perthshire can offer and Williams Bros. display their fine range from Alloa. Also in there is Scotland’s original cider maker from East Lothian, Thistly Cross Cider.
Each brewer will have a range of their popular beers and also a few special editions for the festival.
Add to this a range of food vendors and bars and there is something for everyone.
Festival organiser, Michelle Russell, said: “Three things that Scotland does really well are beer, food and music and we will have all three and much more during North Hop.
“With around 1,000 tickets released for the festival there will be a large crowd to listen to all the bands and artists and we are delighted to be providing another platform for them to showcase what they can do.”
The festival will run from 4pm until midnight on Friday, 29 August, and from noon until midnight on Saturday, 30 August.
