Call to Mind return to their Highland homeland for their biggest headline show to date. The Glasgow based five-piece with their original roots deep in the Scottish Highlands, will stage a special headline show at Eden Court on Saturday October 25th.

Call To Mind 11 199x300 - Eden CallsThe dramatic setting of the One Touch Theatre at Eden Court will be the perfect backdrop to showcase their smouldering sound and tracks from their acclaimed album The Winter Is White.

The album released via successful DIY label Olive Grove Records draws influence from musical heroes such as Sigur Rós, The National and Kate Bush and their love of Scotland’s dramatic outdoors. The release of The Winter Is White proved that you do not need a big fanfare to create a sonic ripple effect big enough to move mountains. This ten-track record represents everything the band cherishes.

With significant life experiences influencing the veins of this album, Call To Mind have created a body of work that explores thoughtful, emotional territory – affecting, beautiful and inventive.

The idea to play at Eden Court originated from a goNORTH session at the venue last year, which was recorded for Netsounds Unsigned. Call To Mind’s guitarist, Jamie Ross explains: “I remember music visually; a lot of what we do is rooted in our environment, upbringing and background. I think this comes across clearly in our music. Eden Court will be the perfect place to help the aural elements of our show bloom visually.”

Call To Mind 21 300x199 - Eden CallsJoining Call To Mind on the night will be the Cairn String Quartet. They are well known for pushing the boundaries of string tradition with a contemporary and unique take on classical music.

As well as working with Call To Mind on their debut album they have also collaborated with well-known bands, DJ’s and solo artists including appearances at the MOBO’s with Professor Green and Emeli Sande, Glastonbury and T in The Park. Their playlist is like no other, from Bach to Beyonce, Mozart to Metallica and Sinatra to Star Wars!

Familiar to Inverness audiences as the frontman for The Whiskys, Dr. Wook has more recently self-released tracks ‘Down The Line’ and ‘Grace From Below’. He has played a handful of live shows with the likes of Three Blind Wolves, Anderson, McGinty, Webster,Ward & Fisher and Rick Redbeard.

The evening is presented by Netsounds Unsigned & 2010 Events in association with Olive Grove Records.

Tickets for Call To Mind are available via the Eden Court.

I've always loved music and spent my late teens and early twenties playing guitar in various bands on Lewis and Aberdeen. Other than playing in some truly terrifying pubs in Aberdeen not much came of it and life became focused on family and having a 'proper' job. Inverness Gigs is an outlet for me to quell my inner frustrated musician and the caliber of local acts has even inspired me to take my own music more seriously again. Who knows, one day I might venture back on stage under the fierce scrutiny of an Inverness Gigs reviewer! You can contact Toby direct at Toby@Igi.gs
