With the festival now sold out there has been much anticipation as to which acts will be filling up the slots.
Announced to headline the Hothouse Stage are Southampton’s indie trio Band of Skulls. Their most recent album released in March of this year, ‘Himalayan’, peaked at number 14 in the charts and the band are sure to be a popular draw. Drawing praise from the NME who said that having supported “Queens Of The Stone Age and Muse in some of the world’s vaster enormodomes, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Band Of Skulls have returned with an album that sounds confident enough to fill those venues themselves.” I’m sure they will do the Hothouse Stage more than justice.
Meanwhile Friday night at the Black Isle Brewery Grassroots Stage sees quirky pop trio, I Am Kloot, headlining. A newcomer to the festival they will be warmly welcomed with open arms. With six studio albums under their belts they are an accomplished outfit who more than meet the criteria of a Grassroots headliner.
Well what can we say about The Vatersay Boys. They kick up a bit of a ruckus wherever they play and this modern ceilidh band from Barra will feature again on the Garden Stage. Good news for all those that like to get their hearts pumping and feet stomping!
Nine below Zero, the London R n B band borne out of the Seventies and reformed in Nineties have drawn similarities from the early days of the Kinks and Dr Feelgood.Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire appear after recently being announced on the Long List for this year’s SAY Award.
The New Piccadlys, who our reviewer described as “Booted, suited and quifftastic The New Piccadillys swept on board and prowled the stage menacing the crowd with their intense stares and shiny guitars” at Loopallu 2013, will be joing the Belladrum 2014 line-up. So to will Catfish & The Bottlemen who were described by The Guardian as “defiantly uncool Welsh indie rockers who are building an audience the old-fashioned way”.
brownbear ,who have appeared to have dropped the capitals and their bandits, but hopefully they have retained their ability to combine folk guitar, celtic airs and pop hooks with meaningful lyrics.
Raintown, George Barnett, Luke Jackson , Torridon and Feis Rois also join the bill.
Saving the best , at least for a certain age group, for last Joe Gibbs said of The Singing Kettle “We are really thrilled to welcome The Singing Kettle to the show at last, we have a suspicion that today’s young‘uns will be joined by yesterday’s kids singing along to these guys on the Garden Stage.”
