Fresh from the success of their night with Casual Sex, Netsounds Unsigned and Mad Hatters are teaming now up with Edinburgh based label Gerry Loves Records to present Adam Stafford, Rick Redbeard and Yusuf Azak at Mad Hatters, Inverness on Tuesday 8th April, and all or the princely sum of £5.
Rick Redbeard and Adam Stafford need no introduction along with newest signing to the label, Yusuf Azak, but I’ll let Netsounds do that anyway.
Falkirk born Adam Stafford is an ingenious master of loop pedals and a capella. His live shows are influenced by the theatre of David Bowie and David Byrne; he immerses himself in the songs to deliver a mesmerising live performance. His critically lauded album Imaginary Walls Collapse was one of the outstanding albums of 2013 that featured contributions from members of Zoey van Goey, Over the Wall, Siobhan Wilson, Anna Miles, and Robbie Lesiuk.
Joining Adam Stafford on the bill is fellow Gerry Loves Records label mate, one time collaborator and Phantom Band front man, Rick Redbeard AKA Rick Anthony. Like Adam, Rick Redbeard’s album No Selfish Heart was hailed by the music press in 2013 and both albums appeared in the Scottish Music Sites and Bloggers (BAMs) top 5 albums of the year. His split 7″ release with Adam Stafford in 2012 was the first Rick Redbeard release of any nature. Like the album No Selfish Heart, Rick Redbeard’s live shows are a treat of darkly poignant but beautifully rich and understated acoustic numbers.
Opening on the night will be Gerry Loves’ latest signing, Glasgow based, Yusuf Azak who is an Aberdonian of Turkish descent. He has an amazing and unique guitar style paired with a gorgeous voice looped and layered creating outstanding harmonies. His new album Peace in the Underworld, scheduled for release on Gerry Loves Records in May, again showcases his melodic songwriting and follows on from his first two long players Go Native and Turn On The Long Wire (Song, By Toad Records).
So that’s Adam Stafford, Rick Redbeard and Yusuf Azak on Tuesday 8th April 2014 at Mad Hatters, Inverness. Door at 8pm.
Tickets are £5 in advance, and are on sale from Friday 14th March from www.scottish.ticketsource.co.uk
