Young Aviators Landing at Mad Hatters

Our good friends at Netsounds Unsigned have been in touch with us to let us know that their first gig of 2014 with Mad Hatters takes place this Saturday, 22nd February.

Kicking things off they have a band that has featured on some of their earlier podcasts and Netsounds are delighted to have them at this exciting stage of their journey.  They are Glasgow-based Irish garage-pop band Young Aviators.

Young Aviators are in attack formation for 2014 hoping to build on the success they had in 2013 which saw them release their debut album Self Help as well as touring with Nine Black Alps, Subways, Reef and more recently with Travis.  Their catchy hooks and indie floor filling sound will be perfect for Saturday night.

Joining Young Aviators are 4 lads from Orkney called Kendà Nagasäki. Formed in 2012 they are a hybrid of genres and are not afraid mess with musical boundaries.  It is exactly this that makes them stand out from your generic indie band.

Their self-titled EP does not cover songs about ex-girlfriends or dying pets but focuses more on Britain’s propensity for war, gluttony and drunken and drug-fuelled excess!  It’s all wrapped up in a catchy and punchy mash up of ska-indie-rock that will make for a most excellent night.  Or your money back.(It’s a figure of speech as the night is great value at FREE!)

That’s not all as Netsounds make the following promise ‘Also kicking a punch on the night will be our DJ set!  We will be plugging in and spinning right through until 3am with a very special Saturday night set!’

Netsounds Unsigned + Mad Hatters Live with Young Aviators/Kendà Nagasäki is on Saturday 22nd February, 9:30pm – 3am.

FREE entry.

Chartered surveyor by day, music reviewer by night, and occasionally I get to use my camera. A strange mix, but one that I enjoy. A chance meeting in the queue for Bella in 2010 led to the opportunity to write for InvernessGigs; a far cry from the days of writing for a football fanzine back in the late 80s, early 90s. My interests lie between the mainstream, the emerging and the local. Increasingly I find that we have more than enough locally to entertain us to necessitate a trip south. I’m always happy to give a listen, whatever the genre. Inverness has a plethora of talent, all of which I am more than keen to write about. If it encourages just one person to make the effort to listen to some new music I’ll be happy. You can contact Frank direct via frankieboyfin@gmail.com
